Eigenheim Dog Brush/ Dematting Comb

Our little Kenzie is a strange blend of Border Collie and Blue Heeler, and she has both medium and long fur.  While most of her is covered in medium-length, soft and silky fur, her butt is long, fluffy and usually tangled. And her tail is a plume of long fur!

Now, she hates being brushed, but she sheds like crazy, so we have to brush her as often as we can, and outside if we can!  Mostly it's easy to get the loose fur off, but her backside and back legs are a problem, as she really doesn't like them to be brushed. Consequently, they get matted, are full of loose fur, and look bushy!

We just got  a EIGENHEIM DOG BRUSH DEMATTING COMB, which looks like a rake with sharp tines. I can't say that Kenzie likes being brushed with it any better than her last brush, but it doesn't take much to remove tangles and mats with the Dematting comb!

I bought it here: https://www.amazon.com/Grooming-Dematting-Undercoat-Remove-Tangles/dp/B07GJ8SS8T

In fact, it is so comfortable to hold, and easy to use, that I can hold it with two fingers, run it though her fur, and it comes up with fur that needed to be stripped. It takes no effort at all, and in fact, no pressure should be used when combing with this tool.

The instructions on the package needs some work - the translations don't work very well, but at least it has some instructions.

I remember that we had a similar brush for our Sheltie, years and years ago, and that it successfully detangled his matted tail, removed burrs from his fur gently, and made it easy to strip the underfur when he was shedding.

Hopefully this pup will get used to being brushed soon, and we can get that tail under control!!!

Pinterest vs Learnist

I definitely would like to set up a board of some kind for the school library. We could add sites for research, fun tools to explore, games and educational activities, and other schools' sites. I am wondering whether to go with Pinterest or Learnist. Pros and cons: Pinterest is very popular, and seems like it is here to stay. Learnist is educational, so there would be less temptation to stray from recommended sites. Both are attractive, and easy to use. Must research and experiment further before unveiling The Site.....

Getting Organized in the New Year with Sterlite boxes!

I had a great opportunity to put one of my New Year's Resolutions to work this week when I got the opportunity through Tomoson Reviews to purchase Sterlite  Stackable Shoe Storage Boxes through Groupon. Now I had no excuse not to get more organized, and to put clutter in its place, with a dozen clear shoeboxes! I first tackled the coat closet, where hats, gloves and scarves were in a jumbled mess, always falling out when I tried to look for one. Now, with gloves in one box, hats and scarves in others, I can find just what I need in a hurry, and they stay neat and tidy on the shelf! Since the boxes snap shut tightly, I can pull them down to look inside, without the contents emptying all over the floor! Next, I managed to corral all of the dog's treats and meds, which were kept in three different places in the kitchen, and put them into one neat box! The Sterlite box can now sit on the pantry shelf, and all of our spoiled little dog's treats are in one place, han...

Terrific sofa cover - for the right sofa!

We go through sofa covers with alarming speed.  I think we are on the sixth one in two dogs...And Ashton totally shredded one in a month!!   Since Kenzie has claimed the off-white sofa as her own,    I need to keep it protected. But it is hard to keep the cover on - Since she is so “active, I need to use upholstery pins to keep the cover in place! Would you believe that she bent every one of the pins, and they all came loose?  That's why I thought that this sofa cover ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M32JJM2 ) would be the solution to our problems, since it has rolls that tuck in between the cushions and the frame to keep it in place, and a nice strap that wraps around the back of the sofa as well to keep the back covered.  However, I failed to measure and check the dimensions accurately, and the cover is far too small for Kenzie's sofa - which, admittedly, is a large one. We usually need two protective covers to go from ...
