I don't know about you, but I love Magic Erasers for those seemingly impossible scuff marks, ink stains and crusty places that seem to pop up more often now that we have a wild and crazy pup. They can be kind of expensive, especially when they don't last long. So, I was buying the cheaper version of the sponges at the dollar store, and even bought one that was about 10" by 18" - and had to cut it into pieces! As expected, these cheaper versions always seemed to squish into unusable little pads too soon, or they broke apart and crumbled if I scrubbed too long or too hard.
So I was a bit skeptical about trying these Magic Cleaning Eraser Sponges from Trinova
(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DX9G76W). There are 20 sponges in the pack - and it only cost me $11.98! They arrived so quickly that I was surprised, and I searched the house for ways to test them out and see if they hold up any better than the ones I had bought before.
First of all, I was pleased to see a guarantee right on the back of the package! And the instructions for use -- which no one would think are necessary - are clear and easy to read. The sponges are abrasive, and not for use on every surface, which is made clear right on the pack.
Secondly, I was impressed by the size of the sponges. The are a nice 4"x2.5"x1.5" -- thick and easy to hold, especially when scrubbing. They are smooth all over -- unlike some of the brand name sponges, but I don't think that makes a difference in the cleaning ability.
I looked around for some areas to test - and found some great candidates for a magic cleaner! Kenzie jumps on the wall with muddy paws, and her marks wiped off with one stroke.
Then I tried it outside, on the aluminum siding trim that she has covered in mud; the sun has baked this crust so that it is impossible to clean off with a rag and water, but it wiped right off with the Magic Sponge!
The glass shower door is a pain in the neck to clean, as is the tile in the shower. The Magic Eraser cleaned off soap scum and watermarks with one stroke, and left the door and tile sparkling. And all I needed to use is water! No harsh cleaner smells in the small, enclosed shower!
I know that I shouldn't use the sponge on stainless steel, but I wondered how the Magic Sponge would fare on the greasy grill cover. The photos are hard to see, but the sponge cleaned off a year's worth of grease spatters with minimal scrubbing - but this last test was apparently too tough on the sponge, and a corner broke off while I was scrubbing. No big deal -- the rest of the sponge is still in great shape.
I am very happy with the quality of these sponges, and with the reasonable cost. A pack of 20 should last me a long time, but I definitely will reorder when they are gone. They make cleaning so much easier, without harsh chemicals!
