The idea of blogging, or otherwise creating a journal, has been tickling my mind for some time. I like the idea of recording thoughts and reactions -and of keeping them safe and together online, but I struggled with starting, and with making them public. I currently read some very articulate (Connie) and some very clever bloggers (Meghan) and I doubt that my musings will be in the same league as theirs, or will ever find an audience.
However, certain recent events and this imposed isolation have convinced me that the benefits of putting thoughts to screen might be positive, and maybe even enjoyable. I have decided to try to write regularly, for my own satisfaction and growth, regardless of whether it is read, so I am setting some guidelines and rules to start, knowing full well that these will change, grow and become redundant:
However, certain recent events and this imposed isolation have convinced me that the benefits of putting thoughts to screen might be positive, and maybe even enjoyable. I have decided to try to write regularly, for my own satisfaction and growth, regardless of whether it is read, so I am setting some guidelines and rules to start, knowing full well that these will change, grow and become redundant:
- This is not a competition, and I don’t look for comparisons, judgement or criticisms of any of the posts
- Topics will be random, may be personal, may seem trivial or foolish
- I will write when inspiration strikes and time permits, not stick to a schedule.
- I may or may not invite readers
- Length of each piece may vary - I will not hold myself to a word count.
- I may write and not publish, or write a few before I make them public in random order. Whatever. It’s not required writing, and I’m doing it for my own satisfaction, so I can do what I want!
With these thoughts in mind, I am off to my first blogjournal.
