With all of the green beans still coming from our garden, I really, really am having fun with this new SARKI Vacuum Sealer. I got it here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DCQSB37 and have been reading the manual and learning the controls since I got back from vacation to find the bean plants covered with beans!!
In the box, I found the sealer, a very helpful instruction manual, five 8"x11.8" vacuum sealer bags, one 8"x79" vacuum sealer bag roll and an air suction hose that can be used with the vacuum canister (sold separately). I like that the machine also fits other brands of vacuum sealer bags and rolls, up to 12" in width, so I should have no trouble finding replacements.

The machine itself is pretty straight-forward; I can choose to seal, or to vacuum and seal a bag, and I can select moist or dry contents, and gentle or regular vacuum. The gentle setting would be better for foods that are delicate, or crush easily, like berries, perhaps.
I made a couple of short videos, demonstrating how easy it is to use the sealer, and this was my very first attempt, so you can tell that it really IS easy!
After watching lots of Chopped on FoodTV, I am anxious to try marinating food in a vacuum-sealed bag, since food will pickle or marinate much faster in a vacuum - as little as 20 minutes! I am also thrilled that vacuuming the bags makes them easier to store in the freezer, so meats are now going into vacuum bags right from the store packaging.
Sealing also makes food last longer; according to a chart in the booklet, meat will keep fresh for 8-9 days in the refrigerator if it is sealed, and fruits for 2 to three weeks! In the freezer, meat that would normally only last 4-6 months would stay fresh up to 20 months! That's almost 2 years!
I have wanted a vacuum sealer for some time, since I freeze a lot of summer fruits and vegetables; but I can't wait to try it for other purposes, too. I read in the instruction manual that sealing silver in a vacuum will prevent tarnishing!! Here go the Christmas ornaments and Grandma's silverware!!
